ocated on Newmarket Road, Cambridge, this student accommodation development saw Gamma appointed by Aztec Construction to deliver multiple joinery packages across the scheme.

Our scope included the supply and installation of doorsets and architectural ironmongery, the design, manufacture and installation of bedroom casegoods and cluster kitchens, the supply and installation of timber roof trusses, together with the design, manufacture and installation of specialist joinery throughout the amenity spaces.

Having responsibility for four separate packages allowed us to take a much more coordinated approach to the project. Our design, manufacturing, procurement and site teams were able to work across the different scopes together, reducing interfaces for the client and allowing labour, deliveries and installation to be planned around the wider construction programme.

The bedroom package involved the manufacture and installation of furniture across the student accommodation together with the shared cluster kitchens, while our specialist joinery team developed the bespoke elements within the communal and amenity areas.

Alongside this, Gamma managed the doorset and architectural ironmongery package and the installation of timber roof trusses, giving our team involvement across the development from earlier construction stages through to the final internal finishes.

Newmarket Road is a strong example of the wider capability Gamma can offer. By bringing doorsets, bedroom furniture, kitchens, specialist joinery and carpentry works together under one contractor, we were able to provide Aztec Construction with a more coordinated approach across a significant part of the internal joinery package.
